Deoxys — The DNA Pokémon

Deoxys — The DNA Pokémon

Deoxys Normal Forme official artwork

Deoxys is a Psychic-type Mythical Pokémon from the Hoenn region, debuting in Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire. Known as the DNA Pokémon, it stands 1.7 meters tall — and it did not evolve from anything on Earth. The Pokédex says: 'The DNA of a space virus underwent a sudden mutation upon exposure to a laser beam and resulted in Deoxys. The crystalline organ on this Pokémon's chest appears to be its brain.'

What makes Deoxys truly unique is that it has four formes — Normal, Attack, Defense, and Speed — and can shift between them, reshaping its body to specialize in offense, defense, or blinding speed. In the games, its forme changes depending on which region's meteorite it touches, a detail that ties its alien origin to its ever-changing body.

Deoxys made its big-screen debut in the seventh Pokémon movie, Destiny Deoxys, where it descends from space above LaRousse City and clashes with Rayquaza in one of the most spectacular battles in the franchise's film history. It was one of the first Mythical Pokémon to headline its own movie.

Because it was originally distributed only through special events, Deoxys became one of the most elusive Pokémon of its era — many players knew it only from rumors and playground stories long before they ever saw one. Its four formes are shown here: Normal, Attack, Defense, and Speed.
